Andrea Sasso knows a little bit about defending clients against lawsuits. She served as a defense lawyer for several years before joining her old Widener University School of Law classmate Kevin O’Brien at Stampone Law in September. Now on the side of the plaintiff,
Andrea feels confident she has finally found a place to call home. It’s been a journey.
A double major Communications and Political Science graduate from Temple University, Andrea initially began her career in the music business in concert promotion and radio sales. After a few years, she realized her communication skills were not being fully utilized. Her interest in political science pulled her toward law. Working multiple jobs in restaurants and as a paralegal for defense firms, she put herself through law school. Naturally, she progressed to defending clients. It wasn’t long before she realized she was drawn to the plaintiffs’ plight.
Andrea remembers a particularly difficult case involving a deceased child that solidified her decision to share her skills with plaintiffs who are afraid and hurting. It was that truth that brought her to Stampone Law.
“Beyond a settlement, I see an opportunity to give families closure. Understanding what happened and why it happened matters. I see an opportunity to offer that to families.”
Joining the team at Stampone Law was the final step in finding her fit. Familiar with the firm’s reputation for compassionate and hard-fought representation, Andrea was impressed by Stampone Law’s approach. “They don’t cut corners. They give it everything. They treat their clients like family. They care. I am excited to see what we can do for my clients at a higher level.”
Andrea believes her experience on the defense has made her a more compassionate litigator with insights that calm and prepare her clients for what they will face as they pursue justice. Like the litigators at Stampone Law, Andrea feels compelled to treat her clients like family and empathize with the fear and uncertainty they are experiencing.
“I’ve seen a lot. I can prepare my clients for what to expect from a deposition or hearing to the point where they say afterward, ‘You told me they were going to ask that!’ I know how to anticipate for my clients.”
A recent victim of a car accident, Andrea understands how difficult dealing with a serious injury can be. Still experiencing the physical and emotional results of the unexpected event, she can contribute to her clients’ discipline in scheduling methodical treatments and support.
“I’ve had physical therapy for neck and back pain. I understand the fear of injections and the possibility of living with permanent discomfort. I find I am more empathetic with my clients because I’ve lived it.”
After years building toward a career that she loves, Andrea is grateful to finally feel at home. When not developing her new career at Stampone Law, she relishes the opportunity to stay connected to her first love: music. An avid concert-goer, Andrea tries to take in “any show I can”. Whether it’s Beyonce, Indie Rock or Hip Hop, she enjoys unwinding with friends she’s made along the way. A self-described “foodie” she appreciates the excellent culinary scene in Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore, where she finds herself most summers. And when she can really get away, it’s to Paris “the most magical place” where her love for food and wine can be nourished.
When not enjoying friends and traveling, Andrea relishes in her family and the opportunity to be an Aunt to her one-year old niece, Regan. While initially hesitant about her journey in law, her parents are thrilled she has finally found a second family at Stampone Law doing what she loves.
“I’m humbled and honored to be chosen to represent Stampone Law. I’m happy.” It is a mutual feeling shared by the firm’s attorneys and staff. “It is her passion for victims and an understanding of what it takes to win that made hiring Andrea a no brainer,” says founder and principal shareholder, Joe Stampone. “We are thrilled to add her experience and talent to our flourishing roster of litigators.
